ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – February 8, 2019 — Ocean Resort Casino is hosting traditional Lion Dance through the casino floor and the hotel lobby in celebration of Chinese New Year.

WHO: Ten traditional Lion Dancers will perform to kick-off the Chinese New Year, celebrating the Year of The Earth Pig in Chinese Zodiac. In Chinese culture, lions signify courage, stability and superiority and each colorful costume, which accommodates two dancers each, are filled with symbolism. The dance combines art, history and Kung Fu moves.
WHAT: The Chinese New Year, also the start of the Spring Festival in Chinese tradition, is typically celebrated with a lion dance performance that takes place during the first few days of the start of the New Year. This dance includes what is called “Cai Qing” or “Picking the Green” which involves lettuce being offered to the lion for wealth and prosperity. Guests can watch this traditional ceremony outside, in the porte-cochere, prior to the Lion Dance making its way around the casino and the hotel lobby.
